Laksa-daisical...

via we ♥ it

Struggling to find the motivation to study for my looming exams, I walked down to the shops this morning and bought the makings for a home-cooked laksa. Now a good laksa is pretty much on the top of my favourite things to eat list and if I can master it for myself I will be as happy as happy can be!

Swapping is Fun!!!

I was so excited to recieve my package today from the tres delightful Sandrine of smboutique and histoire de soie. She is a French born artisan living in Queensland and has put together a beautiful package of handmade and carefuly selected items just for me as part of the Calico & Co. birthday swap. I just adore every little thing she has sent me. She has caught on to my style perfectly, with the ring she sent being a gorgeous match with the skirt I am wearing on this very day!

You really must check out her store and see her talents for yourself. Thank you Sandrine xoxo!

Hopefully the package I sent to the lovely Verity of Joie de tea will reach her early next week. Thanks too Amanda for organising this swap. You have a fantastic blog and an ace bunch of readers, you lucky girl!

Monday Owlness

Beautiful owl bookends by maushomevintage found via Love Elycia

Come on spring, do your thing...

This spring we will have homegrown strawberries!

The next month is going to be buzzingly busy and I hope that the coming of spring is going to bring me the energy boost I will need to get through. Between clinical labs, placement, submitting portfolios, moving house and going down to Sydney for a Metallica concert (not my idea), i'm hoping there will still be time for little stolen moments of crafting and daydreaming.

Very excited though, beneath all the trepidation , especially about our new house, decorating the sunroom and long weekend strolls on the beach. Being busy is good for me, I just need to keep reminding myself that I CAN DO THIS and do it well!

Good morning, tea?

Taking things little by little today. Trying to balance work with play so that I don't end up in limbo and doing neither.

Monday Owlness

My dream quilt cover from Branch Handmade

Had a wonderful, relaxing weekend out at Tamworth, visiting the farm owned by my sweethearts "second family". Now today it's back to the business of uni work and house hunting. We had a look at a fantastic place at lunchtime today, so fingers crossed we get the lease!

Procrastinography

Meh. I'd much rather drown in a sea of vintage fabric and crocheted granny squares than attempt anything that is on my large and bewildering (I don't want) to do list.

After a failed attempt at procrastibaking which left me with a half burnt-half liquid mess of jam and coconut slice, I pretty much decided to write off the day. Which would be lovely if I didn't have an assignment due on Friday and a dire need for the proceeds of my tax return. Which of course requires me to lodge it!

So i've been playing around with photographs of the fabric that I don't quite have the motivation to use to make something pretty. Oh dear, Victoria.

Monday Owlness

I just couldn't resist these little hand-stamped owls when I stumbled upon them in the lovely meldewdesigns etsy shop. They are now available in a gorgeous array of colours too.

I can't wait 'til these little guys turn up in my letterbox and I'm thinking of turning them into a little garland. Any other ideas on how I might use them?

Wah Wah Wears

I have really enjoyed wearing this necklace since I bought it at the first Finders Keepers Market in Sydney. I've been looking everywhere online for info on the creator of this lovely piece, but without any luck. So it is with much excitment that I have discoverered that the elusive Zoe Churchill is now selling her sweet ceramic Wah Wah Wears through Leeloo. Go check it out!

Today I am making...

Here is a little sneak-peek at the spunketty crochet blanket I am making for the winter.

Songs from my youth...

I'd rather dance in ugly pants from the comfort of my loungeroom in suburbia

...but it's still nice to get out sometimes. Saw Regurgitator at the Annandale on the weekend. Definately one of the best Aussie bands from the 90's and they still have it.

Monday Owlness

I am lucky enough to have this print prettifying one of my walls at home. It is by the Sydney artist Tabitha Emma, who's cuteness and originality makes me want to spend ridiculous amounts of money at her shop.

Pom-tiddily-om-pom!

Today has been f-f-freezing! I've been mucking around making tissue paper pom poms, but I am yet to get them looking as lovely as these!

If you want to have a go yourself you can find some instructions here.

Now the sun has gone down, I think I really need to try to get some heat into my house. I think I need to turn the oven on. Lucky I'm planning to make apple and berry turnovers. Mmmmm winter warmers.

Always Greener

In the middle of winter, penniless and pudgey and all I dream of doing is walking along the beach in a pretty floral dress. Hurry back summer!

Found these lovelies over at Ruche.

Meet Me @ Mike's: The Envelope Project

Just posted my little pack of goodies off to The Envelope Project over at Meet Me At Mike's. Yay! You can find out what it's all about and participate here.

Monday Owlness

If you know me well, you will know that I LOVE OWLS. There are owls to be found in every nook and cranny of my home and there are a lot more in my bedroom at Mum and Dad's waiting patiently to make the trip up to Newcastle.

Lots of other people love owls too... how could you not? So now it is my aim, to bring to you every Monday, my favourite owly discoveries of the week.

And so we begin with this beautiful Sylvanian family of owls!

I have adored the Sylvanian families since I was a wee tyke. I can't remember exactly which ones I had, but I think there was a little brown bunny in a red gingham dress on a swing that was a favourite. Alas, all my Sylvanian friends seem to be gone, given to Vinnies or some such over the years. Maybe it is time I began my collection again? Now that could be dangerous :-)

My second owleriffic discovery is this lovely little 3D paper owl DIY tutorial over at skip to my lou and designed by the super-talented Larissa of mmmcrafts. An owly project that I know i'm going to have to try!

Aren't they just so lovely?

Happiness in a Spoonful

The delightful Anthea and her friends have done it again with the second ever issue of Spoonful zine

This is take-anywhere inspiration, with something to put a smile on the face of any arty slash crafty slash literary type and has already caught the attention of style-fiends like Frankie magazine and much love.

This issue features a new crafty section and has been my first introduction to the amazing designs and style of Dottie Angel. I've spent hours today trawling through her photostream and i just can't get enough of all the cushions, crochet, aprons and clogs. Never have I seen nanna-chic done quite so beautifully!

Anyway, back to Spoonful! You can purchase a copy of your very own here or on etsy ready for the next time you have a bus to catch, doctor to wait for or a procrastination date with a looming deadline.

Cath Kidston Love

The rain may have eased up in this part of the world, but for next time I am totally coveting these Cath Kidston umbrella-ella-ellas.

Could totally be mis-matched with these gorgeous Liberty print boots too, no?

Marianne Handmade Watches

The etsy front page has done it yet again and led me to another amazing store! These handcrafted watches are so unique and yet all maintain their functionality. I am going to be in the market for a nurses fob watch in the next few weeks (I have my first placement next semester - eep!) and i'm really hoping I might be able to have one of these amazing watches made up in that form!

See more here.

Hello and welcome to my new blog. It's been a long time coming. Stay-tuned for lots of goodness!
